April 26, 1986, will forever be remembered as the day of the worst nuclear disaster in history - the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.
Today, we remember the victims of this disaster, the efforts of the liquidators and the courage of those who faced the invisible enemy of radiation. Chernobyl is a symbol of human vulnerability, but also a reminder of the importance of technological safety and responsible use of natural resources.
On the eve of the Chornobyl Day, the Vinnytsia Regional Scientific Library named after V. Otamanovsky hosted a roundtable discussion “Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant Accident: Tragedy and Warning” with the participation of 20 students of Vinnytsia Vocational School No. 11.
The event was attended by the liquidators of the Chornobyl accident of the first category: the head of the Vinnytsia regional public organization of disabled people “Chernobyl Union of Ukraine” Mykola Petrovych Boichuk, Deputy Chairman of the Vinnytsia City Public Organization “Chornobyl Union of Ukraine”, member of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine Mykhailo Mykytovych Yastremskyi, Chairman of the Vinnytsia City Public Organization “Chornobyl Union of Ukraine” Anatolii Vasyliovych Nehoda and member of the Board of the Vinnytsia City Public Organization “Chornobyl Union of Ukraine” Mykola Petrovych Demchuk. The audience listened with bated breath to the memories of people who fought the nuclear disaster in 1986 and eliminated the consequences of the fire, sacrificing their health.
Svitlana Holodiuk, Director of the Vinnytsia Regional Clinical Medical Rehabilitation Center for War Veterans and Radiation Protection, spoke about medical support for victims of the Chornobyl accident.
