📅 November 9 is celebrated in Ukraine as the Day of Cultural Workers and Folk Art Masters, a holiday that honors those who preserve and promote national traditions.
On November 6, the Department of Artistic Culture and Arts of the V. Otamanovsky Vinnytsia Regional Universal Scientific Library hosted a creative meeting entitled “Wax Wreaths as an Element of Ukraine's Intangible Cultural Heritage.” The event was organized in cooperation with the Vinnytsia State Center for Aesthetic Education of Students of Vocational and Technical Educational Institutions.
👩🎨 Valentina Pogrebnyak, a master craftswoman, volunteer, and founder of the NGO “People's Territory of Happiness,” spoke about the tradition of making wax wreaths—a wedding decoration for brides that was widespread in the Vinnytsia region from the late 19th to the 1980s.
✂️ The participants of the master class, 👨🎓 30 students from VPU No. 11 in Vinnytsia and DNE “VPU 7 in Vinnytsia,” had the opportunity to create wax flowers and paper flowers with their own hands.
📜 In 2020, the technology for making wax wreaths was included in the National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Ukraine.
📚 The event was moderated by Iryna Yarynchak, head of the scientific information sector on culture and art, who also presented thematic literature.
