On December 11, a warm ethnic event took place at the V. Otamanovsky Vinnytsia Regional Universal Scientific Library, bringing the true spirit of Christmas.
🎶 Twenty students from the Vinnytsia Industrial Professional College actively participated in the event in close cooperation with the Vinnytsia State Center for Aesthetic Education of Students of Vocational and Technical Educational Institutions.
🎤This year's special guests were talented and charming girls from Podillia, friends of the library, who preserve, promote, and pass on to future generations our ancient song traditions of celebrating Christmas and Generous Evening in Podillia. – Lidiia Ostapchuk, Honored Artist of Ukraine, assistant to the chief choirmaster of the Podillia Academic Song and Dance Ensemble Vinnytsia Regional Philharmonic named after Mykola Leontovych, senior lecturer at the Faculty of Arts and Artistic and Educational Technologies, Department of Vocal and Choral Training, Theory and Methods of Music Education named after Vitaliy Gazinsky Vinnytsia State Pedagogical University named after Mykhailo Kotsyubinsky and her students – Alina Makoviychuk, Karina Rozvoruk, Alona Kornenko, and Oleksandra Korenyuk, who are multiple winners of prestigious all-Ukrainian festivals, competitions, and Olympiads.
📜 Lidiia Overkivna shared fascinating stories about the ancient traditions of Christmas and Generous Evening in Podillia. She gave a deep insight into the history of carols and generous songs – the oldest layer of song folklore, dating back to the Middle Neolithic period!

🎵 The highlight of the meeting was an unforgettable performance of authentic Podillia carols, shchedrivkas, and Christian songs. The guests enchanted the audience with compositions such as “God, Give Us Wheat,” “A Small River Flows,” “Over the Mountains,”
“The Night Is Clear,” “I Walked Through the Garden,” and “The Moon Crossed the Sky.”
