📚On October 29, a unique historical publication was presented at the V. Otamanovsky Vinnytsia Regional Universal Scientific Library: Valentin Otamanovsky's doctoral dissertation, “Cities of Right-Bank Ukraine in the Second Half of the 17th–18th Centuries.” The 1954 manuscript, which had been considered lost for decades, was published for the first time with a preface, notes, and indexes.
🏛 Otamanovsky was an outstanding historian, researcher of Podillia, participant in the Battle of Kruty, and victim of repression in the “SVU” case. His work opens new pages in the economic life of the cities of the Right Bank, in particular Vinnytsia, Kamianets-Podilskyi, Lutsk, and Zhytomyr.
The presentation was attended by historians, local historians, writers, teachers, librarians, and students of the Bar Professional Construction Lyceum in cooperation with the Vinnytsia State Center for Aesthetic Education of Vocational School Students.
🎤 The event was moderated by Oleksandr Fedoryshen, director of the Vinnytsia Museum and initiator of the publication.
📸 The event also featured the opening of the exhibition “Valentin Otamanovsky – Scientist and Local Historian.”
