On May 1, 2025, the Vinnytsia State Center for Aesthetic Education of VET, together with specialists from the Day Center for Social and Psychological Assistance to Victims of Domestic Violence at Vinnytsia Higher Art Vocational School No. 5, held an information hour on “Domestic Violence: How to Protect Yourself and Others.”
The main goal of the event was to teach the younger generation how to protect themselves and their lives, and to develop zero tolerance for such a shameful phenomenon as domestic violence.
Olga Savchuk, a specialist of the mobile team of the Day Center for Social and Psychological Assistance to Victims of Domestic Violence, explained to the youth the difference between gender-based violence and gender-based violence, and conflict and psychological violence, using real-life examples.
Psychologist Iryna Kovylina said that today in Ukraine there are shelters where victims can stay for 3 months while they rebuild their lives without the abuser - they draw up documents, look for work and housing, etc. A day center for social and psychological assistance and crisis rooms were opened in Vinnytsia. Victims receive psychological and legal assistance, as well as food and personal hygiene products, if necessary. The Day Center has a correctional program for women and girls who have suffered from violence, support groups, trainings and educational programs to overcome the consequences of violence.
The event was held in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
