On November 11, the V. Otamanovsky Vinnytsia Regional Universal Scientific Library hosted a literary reading entitled “In the Company of Vasyl Kobets,” dedicated to the 82nd anniversary of the birth of Vasyl Dmytrovych Kobets, an outstanding writer, journalist, translator, public figure, and patriot of Ukraine.
👩🏫 The event was attended by writers, teachers, cultural workers, students, as well as 20 students from the Vinnytsia Center for Vocational Education in Technology and Design and the Vinnytsia Vocational School No. 7, in cooperation with the Vinnytsia State Center for Aesthetic Education of Students of Vocational and Technical Educational Institutions.
📝 Throughout his life, Vasyl Kobets worked tirelessly in the field of literature, nurturing young talent and inspiring love for Ukraine and the preservation of historical memory. His creative output includes poetry, novels, novellas, short stories, and translations. In 2018, he published a unique twelve-volume collection covering his entire literary career, including correspondence with cultural figures, writers, and diary entries.
🏅 In 2023, the writer's family, together with the Vinnytsia Regional Organization of the National Union of Writers of Ukraine, established the Vasyl Kobets All-Ukrainian Literary Award, which annually recognizes talent in the categories of poetry and prose. This year, the award ceremony for the winners took place at the event.
🎭 The event was opened by the Oberig ensemble of the Mykola Leontovych Vinnytsia Regional Philharmonic Society, with the participation of distinguished Ukrainian artists Lidiia Ostapchuk, Halyna Korol, and Oleksandr Ostapchuk. Warm words about Vasyl Kobets, his multifaceted talent, and inexhaustible energy were spoken by guests and participants of the readings.
🎤 Vasyl Kobets' poetry was recited by students of the theater department of the Mykola Leontovych Vinnytsia Professional College of Arts, and his granddaughter Solomiya Kobets performed the songs “Resurrect Me with Love” and “Student Evenings” based on her grandfather's poems, together with Artem Mokrynskyi.
📚 Specialists from the library's local history department prepared an exhibition entitled “The Word and Spirit of Vasyl Kobets' Love,” which presented the writer's multifaceted work.
💬 Vasyl Kobets was an active participant in literary and artistic events, in particular the Stus Readings, which have been held in the library for over 30 years. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of the people of Podolia.
