On January 14, the Vinnytsia Regional Museum of Local Lore hosted a cultural and educational event dedicated to Ukrainian folk holidays, their rituals, customs and traditions. The event was attended by teachers from the Vinnytsia State Center for Aesthetic Education of Vocational School Students and Oleksandra Handzii, head of the historical and ethnographic museum of the Vinnytsia Center for Vocational Education of the Processing Industry.
The lecture focused on the connection between the folk calendar and the traditional way of life formed under the influence of natural rhythms. Much attention was paid to the significance of the rituals that accompanied the holidays, as well as the cultural value of dishes that reflect the way of life and worldview of Ukrainians.
The event was hosted by Tetiana Pirus, head of the educational and research laboratory of Podillia ethnology at Vinnytsia State Pedagogical University named after M. Kotsiubynskyi, member of the National Union of Folk Masters of Ukraine and the National Union of Local History of Ukraine.
The lecture had an interactive format, which allowed the participants not only to get acquainted with the theoretical part, but also to actively join the discussion and express their own opinions on the preservation and popularization of folk traditions.
